What SSA looks for

Medical evidence confirming the diagnosis. Proof that the disorder causes 'extreme' limitation in one, or 'marked' (serious) limitation in two, of the following areas: Understanding, remembering, or applying information. Interacting with others. Concentrating, persisting, or maintaining pace (staying focused, completing tasks). Adapting or managing oneself (regulating emotions, adapting to change, practical life skills). There's also a category for 'serious and persistent' mental disorders documented over at least 2 years with ongoing treatment and limited ability to adapt to changes.
